genderqueer – elegant male femme

These ribbed woolen tights from H&M are great. With shorts and a jacket they remind me of a 19th century boy outfit or a dandy outfit.
At the same time showing my legs in tights is clearly transgressive of the gender binary. I am exposing how fashion creates a myth of different male and female bodies. Male and female legs are exactly the same. Boys’ thighs and asses are just as sexy as the girls’.
We have just created a cultural edifice to mask the similarity and create gender difference.
Long live the genderqueer revolution.
