I just flipped the swith to make jaspergregory.wordpress.com my homepage.

Self-hosting takes a lot of attention away from my art, which is producing content for you.

My main focus right now is on Youtube. I just started and am finding the possibilities huge. Everyone with a webcam has access to this soapbox.

For me it is effecient. I can do a four minute show in about half an hour, and people will actually take the time to watch. When I was writing my blog or my wiki, I spent hours a day and most of my readers just skipped the text and looked at the pictures. Gah!!

Somehow video is more interesting. Even a monologue is captivating somehow, as long as you keep it short, energetic, and keep on topic. Basically it is giving a speech or performing spoken word. This is a powerful new communication and publishing medium.

• The blog will be a lot faster.

For me it means less hassle. Also this site gets way more google hits.

I have been making a lot of changes. Hopefully things will settle. I would like to get some writing done

I have been doing this gender ambiguous outfit. It still fits within the realm of masculine. I love the blue and red primary colors together. It reminds me of an outfit that veronica from Archie comics used to wear.

I have a grand new Net Art project. I am transforming my photoblog into a hyperlinked wikipedia-like site called a Queerpedia. I am excited about the immense possibilities of the medium, and you will be too.
I have made a beginning already and am asking for volunteers to be an early audience before I open it up to everyone. If interested please send me a mail through email, flickr, or wordpress. I just ask for feedback, if you want early access. In exchange you will get to participate in giving direction to my new Net Art Experiment.

I have stopped dressing very genderqueer. I am doing the colorful skinny jeans. my colors can be interesting, but I dropped the tights, jewelery and eyeliner. Maybe I needed a break, a place to land. Presenting as boy is soooo easy compered to breaking gender expectations. Dressing genderqueer is a form of gender activism, and it is draining. In the end I failed to build a social network which gave me the support I needed to be ‘out’ as genderqueer. I will go gender-questing again, but next time I hope to have a supporting job/school situation in place. For four months I quested around the city and created small genderqueer spaces in cafes, bars, dance clubs, art openings, spoken word events and even a burlesque dancing course. Some days this worked fabulously, other days not so well. I am worn out and taking a breather. In the meantime here is some of what’s going on with me:

1) I made a submission to the queer arts festival in June. If I get to exhibit my work I will be thrilled.

2) I am looking into doing non-profit work with my internet programming skills. I am hoping to volunteer with a non-profit doing something with gender activism and social networking/blogging.

3) I am reading the work of male feminists and social studies of masculinity. I am playing with the idea of doing dissertation work in this area.

Until now I have been publishing my posts on both flickr and here. I get about fifteen hundred hits a day on my Flickr photos and I have been trying to reach that audience with my writing.

Lately though I am finding the format of linking a post with writing constraining. So, I have a new approach. I will still publish my photos and small descriptions both on flickr and here, but I will write exclusively here.

Here are a few changes to the blog

I will try to widen the scope of my blogging to include, theory, trans girl fashion tips, trans event in SF, and field notes from my everyday trans experience.

I hope to get more conversation going here. Please leave comments if you have not already. I would love to get to know all of you better.

I will organize the posts by tags and categories so that you can access more of the past posts that are relevant to you.

Wow! I am excited. Durt is DJ’ing at the Stud tonight. Durt DJ’ed the Gangway party. I am guessing the radical queer scene will show. Should be great outfits. I will try to get more of the MTF hipsters this time. If you are coming stop by and say hello.
