i highly recommend reading pages 22-26 in this free edition of Plato’s symposium. He gives an early origin myth of human fusing male and female genders. It inspired many christian and jewish heresies of the Androgynous God. Plato and neo-platonism was rediscovered by the Renaissance, Christian Mystics and America’s Transcendentalists.
