Finally, a discussion about Male Bisexuality

Posted: September 22, 2011 in 2011

I am very impressed by this discussion about Male Bisexuality. Quiet Riot Girl (QRG) is doing some very important work by creating space to understand Male Sexuality through a post feminist lens. I can’t recommend her work highly enough. The UK is having a complex and Nuanced post-feminist discussion about gender. Think of QRG as an introduction to this discussion.
It seems like a lot of her work at the moment is a curation and reworking Mark Simpson’s very important groundlevel descriptions of male gender and sexuality mutation in the UK.

  1. thanks for the link, Jasper! I don’t know how many people in the UK are having this complex and nuanced discussion, sometimes it feels I am talking to myself! So your interest is all the more appreciated

  2. Jasper Gregory says:

QRG, I started following the guardian’s Comment is Free on gender issues about a month ago. The general level of public sphere debate is much more nuanced than the American Version. The American public sphere is completely sanitized. Everyone has withdrawn into counterpublics where they preach to the converted. Julie Bindel will not be published in the American Public Sphere, so we do not get a chance to discuss radical feminism.
Your work and Mark Simpson’s work are the most advanced gender blogging I have seen. So, kudos, and keep up the great work.

  3. I think that even the middlebrow feminism in the US is pretty influenced by radical feminism. eg Tiger Beatdown, Amanda Marcotte, Shakesville is definitely radfem. But yes I think debate still occurs in the UK though some people are trying to crush it, for example by demanding an end to anonymous internet comments on Guardian cif etc.
